We have been blessed with six beautiful apricot babies, 5 girls and 1 boy! It's been a long road with lots of work and it's not over yet. Rorie ended up needing an emergency caesarean before her due date. Everyone one came out of the surgery fine but because it was too early for the babies to come, we had 6 preemie puppies to try and save. They all were healthy but being 6-10 days preemie (bitches ovulate over multiple days so fertilization and conception can be on different days) it has taken long nights with much TLC to pull these little ones through. The gestation for a dog is about 63 days so being 6-10 days early is like being 1-1/2 months preemie for a human. BUT! So far everyone is making it and fingers crossed, they all will continue to grow and flourish. Here's a big thank you to my veterinarians at Riverside for all your help and support and teaching me the techniques to keep these preemie puppies alive.
